@JB1970
Thank you so much for all the advice. Do you mind just telling me if my plan of action is good.
I’ve scrapped the idea of a varifocal following your advice I think it’s not needed.
1. Top left camera mounted 9 feet from the ground using a 2.8mm lens. Angled slightly down and to the...
Nice one @JB1970
2.8mm is what I’ll go for then.
I plan to have 2 cameras high up that will give me a full view of the drive.
In terms of a front door camera, how high do you recommend mounting them? I’m not that bothered if it could be tampered with. Should that happen I’ve got the other 2...
@JB1970
Thanks a lot as always for the advice. Yes il do that. I’m in the process of getting it redone.
Regarding the front door camera where I have it now it’s a 2.8mm and people see far away. That was my thinking for going varifocal.
I also plan to lower it so I capture faces as people...
I guess that explains why I can’t find many videos at all online that demonstrate the app. They all focus on the controller which is accessed via a laptop or similar.
Sounds like the app is very basic even if everything is connected to a cloud key / Unifi nvr.
The hik connect for all its...
@JB1970
Thanks for the reply as always. I need add another camera that covers my front door. I’m thinking to go for the one of the new varifocal 8mp colourvu cameras. I think the turret versions are coming soon.
Instead of that do I call all in with Unifi. Do you know if the app is good in...
Hi
I’m currently running 4 x
Hikvision DS-2CD2387G3-LIS2UY/SL 8 MP Smart Hybrid Light with ColorVu Fixed Turret Network Camera
I’ve been looking at the new Unifi G6 pro cameras. Which on paper have better specs such as a larger lens and optical zoom.
Does anyone know in reality how they...
@JB1970
Interesting insight re the ping and latency for virgin docsis.
Id say that at the very least you have that and aren’t stuck with adsl.
Hopefully you’ll get upgraded soon.
Openreach fttp is solid from my testing so far
Min ping 9ms
Max ping 13ms
Average 11ms
I’ve not had a single...
thanks a lot for the reply.
It’s currently set to the same range as yours with 1/50
I’ll see if changing it makes any difference.
Yeah white supplement light is selected.
It’s weird because as soon as I put limit gain back to 100 it comes on again that’s what made me think the 2 are...
@JB1970
I hope you’re doing well.
I was wondering if you could help me please.
On my g3 colour cameras, the limit gain was set to 1000. I’ve turned this down to 65 now the colourvu light doesn’t come on.
I want the colourvu light to be always on when the camera goes in to night mode...
Just regarding this. I’m not exactly sure if virgin xgs pon is the same. But for openreach fttp their ont serves as the modem. I’ve connected my unifi cloud way gateway max straight to the ont and it works fine.
Ah that’s annoying.
How are you finding your unifi set up? I’m currently running an WiFi 7 Orbi mesh system. I run it on AP mode though.
One issue I’m having is that my devices hardly ever switch over to the closest satellite. The tend to stick to the one they’re connected to. I know it’s...
I’ve continued to test, it’s been a week since I’ve had Openreach FTTP installed and things remain stable. I don’t really see any choppy playback or skipping frames now. I do get the occasional freezing but that’s normal.
Yeah it just goes to show speed isn’t everything. I think with virgin is...
@JB1970
I hope you’re doing well.
I think I’ve got to the bottom of the issue I was having with high bitrate settings causing choppy playback.
When I first posted I was on virgin media broadband but using their old coax connection. The connection seemed okay, I always got 1gig download and...
@JB1970
Thanks a lot for answering my questions. That makes sense to me.
I’ll give those a try. I’m attaching some images of my scenes using what I think are the best settings. Do you think anything could be improved?
The issue I’ve noticed, well not really an issue. Fine tuning say the...
