No, as long as your switch connects back to the same router as the NVR does, you don't need to connect the switch to the NVR directly. It looks like you have an NVR with V5 firmware, so you'll need to follow these instructions to add the doorbell to your NVR. FYI - there's currently an issue...

An active PoE injector will be best (most should be active anyway). Anything that can supply 802.3af PoE will work as that's the standard that the DS-KV6113-WPE1 uses :)

Hi @Rich - the intercom kit cannot be connected directly to an NVR as they need an internet connection to work and need to be added to Hik-Connect directly (you cannot answer calls via the NVR). So, you will need to either use a POE injector or switch to connect it to your LAN (your router)...

Sorry, I'm all out of ideas! Unless someone else here can chip in, I think your best bet is asking whoever supplied you with the NVR to ask Hikvision Support for their input. You can try reaching out to them directly yourself too, but your supplier will probably get a quicker response...
