I had a look, I've not had that problem unless I'm missing something (I possibly am). I think mine was added first as an Access Control Device, then it's working as normal for Video; it didn't need to be added using RTSP protocol, it shows Hikvision and TCP.

The 4MP and 8MP share the same 1/1.8" sensor (the older non hybrid ColorVu used a 1/1.2" sensor on the 8MP). I use both the 4 and the 8. The 4MP should be slightly better for nighttime performance but I've not noticed. If you're covering a wide area then the 8MP will have a clear advantage...

You can actually put the motion sensitivity all the way to 0 and it'll still work. Using multiple motion areas can minimise false alerts as you've found.

Hopefully that'll bring the cost of the 512GB and 1TB cards down a bit. Standalone cameras with 24/7 recording and reasonable retention times are finally achievable. We just need those cards to be less than the cost of an NVR!
