What type of network cable are you using for connection? Is it a 'home-made' self-crimped cable - or a factory produced ready made cable? Is there a possibility you can get the camera next to the POE switch with a short factory made network cable and test to see if the camera will come to life...

That's interesting - I've often wondered for example as to how they (Hik) didn't have scheduled switches linked to sunrise and sunsets - and with my owl bell cam - I would like different settings day and night. Although I know the Pi - I've never looked into one beyond knowing what it is.
