Basic Query - If you have a NVR is there any point/benefit in also using a SD Card?

If this is directed at me? My query was not that I wanted to only use an SD Card, which I know you can if you wish. I was wondering if you have invested in an NVR for mass storage, is there any additional benefit in also fitting a SD card into the camera itself, or if it was a waste of time to...

Basic Query - If you have a NVR is there any point/benefit in also using a SD Card?

Thanks for the information. Very interesting. I was just wondering if it's worth purchasing high write tolerant spec'd SD cards, if I had a NVR. I can see it would be useful in the event a HDD goes bad, though I suspect they are generally very reliable, and hopefully there is some way of being...

Basic Query - If you have a NVR is there any point/benefit in also using a SD Card?

As a beginner, I was not aware you could do that. Alerts to SD card and constant video to the NVR. I will admit, I am surprised with the idea than video quality would be better on an SD Card, as I'd assumed if anything the opposite was true given the read write speeds of a HDD. Perhaps some...

Two Newbie Questions about NVR (benefits?) and Camera on-board abilities.

Oh yes, totally agree with you there, and I have and always will say, I am very happy to be proven wrong. What benefit could there be for myself in continuing to be incorrect on anything. If I ever post incorrect details on anything It's always very welcome for someone to point out why I'm...

Basic Query - If you have a NVR is there any point/benefit in also using a SD Card?

Title says it all really. If you don't wish to, for some reason, or can't afford to purchase a dedicated NVR, then having an SC Card slot in a security cam is a great option. However, if you do have a NVR which all your camera's connect to. Is there any benefit/reason to also having a SD Card...

Two Newbie Questions about NVR (benefits?) and Camera on-board abilities.

Thanks you for the excellent explanation as to the benefits, and also the information that I was looking for that related to where the "brains" of all this was stored. For some reason I mistakenly had in my mind the NVR Software/Hardware was enhancing what the cameras could do esp when it came...

    A suggestion for pre-modded NVR's - use-IP ?

It's just a thought. When you hear multiple complaints about fan noise, and user conceived fix's by those brave enough to try. Perhaps there would be a small market opportunity to be had :) I'm used to cutting holes in PC cases and fitting different fans as I'm sure many who have built PC's...

    Cloud Storage

Just out of general curiosity, if you have a google drive account, and pay for a little extra space than comes free. Say for example 2TB for £80 a year in the UK. Can you use that storage direct from your camera's, or will Google notice that you are uploading 24/7 to their servers and get all...

    A suggestion for pre-modded NVR's - use-IP ?

Perhaps some of you may remember many years ago, there were a few tech items you could buy, DVD players and Games Consoles that you could pay a little more from, from a particular supplier, and the supplier would sell you a "Pre-Modded" box. Various reasons, but they were sold this way as the...

Two Newbie Questions about NVR (benefits?) and Camera on-board abilities.

Thanks, yes they sound like a good idea to pull everything together. I'm still wondering if an NVR (A HikVision one in this case) actually does anything additional, with regards to features, or something else, as opposed to mostly being a simple storage box for the video. I would assume, the...

Two Newbie Questions about NVR (benefits?) and Camera on-board abilities.

I thought I'd try and put two questions into one thread to keep things compact, and also as they are related to each other. Please for give me if they sound like dumb questions, but I'v wishing to absorb some basic knowledge at the moment :) 1: All the smart/clever thinks a modern HikVision...

Noisy Hikvision DS-7608NXI-I2/8P/4S NVR PSU fan?

Is there much height between the top of that small black heat sink on the CPU and the top of the case. Knowing how amazing PC cooling has advanced over the past decade of so, it's a shame to see these excellent NVR's looking like they have cooling systems designed in the 1980's :( I've seen the...

New HikVision User - Stuck on mobile app - Create Verification Code

Ok, thanks for letting me know. Mobile viewing is good enough really, though of course an official HikVision app you could log in would be nice, but if there is not one, and trying to attempt such a feat yourself is open to security issues, then I'm ok with accepting that.

Yes, looking back on it now, I understand what was being said. It's easy when you know :) I think it was so stuck on using SADP and it giving me the error, I did not mentally take full note of the instructions to do it another way. Just let me say a VERY BIG thank you to all for helping me, get...

New HikVision User - Stuck on mobile app - Create Verification Code

Ok, some good news :) Following some basic information no one mentioned to me :) I have been able to enable Hik-Connect, and also add the device (using it's serial number) to the HikVision Device Management web page. As I had explained a number of times, every time I tried to enable...

Thank you, yes, those last 9 digits are the ones I have only ever used. If I may ask a simple question. Would you expect the camera to be found using the HikConnect Portal if Hik-Connect is not currently set to on, on the device?

Yes I do, I made that account when I was 1st trying to get things up and running. And yes, I can log in. I have no devices listed. If I click on ADD and type in the serial number off the box my camera came in. I get the following message: The device cannot be added. I was presuming I was...
