Hello I’ve 6 of these 2 that see more direct sunlight than others have developed a white haze, one at the back and one at the front of the house where the sun rises and sets, all software updated several times since I’ve noticed it, lens are clear, every setting has been checked and is the same as the others which are working perfectly. Has anyone any ideas? When the sun comes out and not even directly on the units they look like the white balance is out, but it’s on auto.

I've attached a photo on a slightly overcast day with not that much haze and a photo from another unit at the same time which appears much crisper

I'd say the first image is looking into the sun, which will usually result in haze/glare, whilst the second is looking away from the sun. You can mitigate glare in settings but the sun moves [or the earth does] so any setting is only good for an hour or two.

Hi @fin

We would recommend playing around with the WDR & HLC (High Light Compensation) settings as these will help balance out any overexposure from the direct sunlight, also you can try using the scheduled-switch for the IR filter as using this allows you to set different image settings for Day and Night so you can play around with the day settings (e.g. faster shutter speed [1/100, 1/250, etc...], enable HLC, etc...) and leave the night settings as they were.

Thank you I shall look at these in the coming days. Macman the units do this when overcast as well

Since this I’ve still had issues, attached is a photo of yesterday from an overcast day and everything has a white ish feel, unlike my other cameras that don’t get direct sun.

Also when I look at the lens it has a white hue in it, my photos of this (they are not the best photo), has anyone had this before? Can they be stripped down and cleaned?

See if this tech note from Hikvision sounds relevant.

But I had an old Bosch camera pointing into the sun for 2-3 hours every morning and it developed permanent burn-in on the plastic lens cover, discolouring it and making the images very fuzzy. I couldn't polish it out but was able to get a replacement lens cover. Trouble is, this was a video intercom camera at my entrance and there was little if any leeway to adjust the angle. My replacement video intercom (Hikvision DS-KD8003-IME1) also offers no adjustment so may suffer the same fate…but I have added a rain hood above it to block out as much of the sky as I can.

Posting this message for anyone else who suffers this. Stripped the unit today, takes about 2 minutes I took the camera ball away from the rest of the bracket with one screw, dismantled the ball of the camera which is three screws and then it comes into two half’s, I then uncoupled the ribbon cable and IR light connector leaving two screws either side of the camera bracket internally and then you can get to the lens.

it was dried moisture that had dried in front of the lens. Quick clean with a lint cloth and then rebuilt. Until it’s in pieces I would of sworn it was burnt into the lens.
