Can I use Hik-connect to access my nvr from outside of my lan using my android mobile, if so can you give me instructions on how to do it or point me in the direction of a web page that gives instructions.

yes, if you enable Platform Access/P2P in the NVR network settings you should be able to access remotely with the app, the below forum posts and resources should help:
