Anyone got any experience SmartPSS Lite vs SmartPSS (Windows software)?

Has anyone used "SmartPSS Lite" and if so how does it compare to "SmartPSS v2"? Which should I use for basic viewing/admin? What is missing from the "Lite" version?

I went to Dahua Website today (UK page) to try and download whatever is their main Windows software for viewing/administering NVRs/Cameras and saw this message:

We are sorry to inform you that we will be discontinuing maintenance and support service for iDMSS, gDMSS App and some versions of SmartPSS 2.0 series from the date of 15 August 2024.

For a start I don't even know what I should be downloading, as there does not seem to be any explanation about what all the different softwares are, I guess I should just "know" but for a Dahua novice it's not at all clear.

After some searching online I *think* it's SmartPSS I should be downloading, although the message says it's being discontinued. But there is no alternative download shown!

After more searching online I found this page which says to download "SmartPSS Lite" instead but there is no mention of it on the Software pages and searching for it on Dahua UK or international sites returns absolutely nothing!

I finally found this (seemingly hidden) page doing a web search which shows a download for SmartPSS Lite, but why is it sort-of "hidden" away and not shown on download pages? Version there is v1.3.6

I've got no experience with Dahua software, but from what I can see, SmartPSS Lite just looks like it's a really stripped down version with fewer features, designed for small surveillance systems and PCs with basic hardware.

TBH, it looks like the VMS they're directing people towards now is DSS Express, which looks similar to Hikvision's iVMS-4200.
