We recently received an Avigilon 3MP Bullet Camera, we had a little play with it and due to other projects it was packed back up until further notice. Yesterday we got this same camera back out and set it up to record, and wow were we impressed with it! This is an exceptional, premium quality camera.
This camera has excellent features. It's a 3MP camera that can shoot 20fps at 2048 x 1536 and can see up to 60 metres in the dark. It has zoom adaptive IR that provides effective illumination at all the zoom positions. It uses automatic day/night functionality which is fully customisable. It is also ONVIF compliant, uses PoE (preferred method by 95% of users) , has a vandal resistant construction and is IP66 compliant.
In this range of cameras, Avigilon have released two versions of 4 different resolution cameras. There are 1MP, 2MP, 3MP and 5MP models of this camera which each have two versions the 'Bo1' and the 'Bo2'. The 'Bo1' has a much wider viewing angle and the 'B02' a narrower one. They all look the same and come in almost identical packaging. Why not take a look at our unboxing video:
With these cameras you have a 'pig tail' ethernet port connector that hangs from the rear of the camera as well as other cables to connect other devices (See User Manual for more information). Here's an image of what the rear of the camera looks like:
To record the footage of this device we used Avigilon ACC software, which gives you a superior result when recording Avigilon cameras. This is a paid for solution but we feel it is a great way of building a security system. If you would like more information on this please contact us for a quote or more information. This camera is also ONVIF compliant so it would be suitable to use with a QNAP VioStor or Synology box (please check their compatibility lists).
If you are interested in setting up the ACC and adding cameras to it, you may be interested in our how-to forum post.
This camera has an easy-to-use web client, with multiple features and settings which you can adjust. You can also set up the optical zoom using the web client. Below we have two snapshots at full resolution (2048 x 1536) of the widest field of view and at its most narrow, taken using the ACC software. Click the image to view at full size.

We also have some sample footage of this camera, shot outside of the office at its widest field of view and at its most narrow viewing angle:
I feel that this is an exceptional camera from Avigilon, and is one of the best 3MP cameras on the market. Although you do pay more for this premium, the slightly higher price is completely justified (to get a full quote please contact us).
As said before we coupled this this the Avigilon ACC software which I feel is a great solution for this camera, and also to build up a brilliant security network. However, this camera is ONVIF compatible so should work with existing CCTV networks that support ONVIF. This would be a good addition to any system where a superior quality is needed. I would say that this camera is best suited to a larger business or buildings, for instance school environments where the greater quality is needed.
To give a comparison on this device price wise, this camera is currently roughly £120 more than the 1mp version, roughly £75 more than the 2mp option and roughly £70 less than the 5mp version. I would say that the extra money spent would be a wise investment.
The 3mp Bullet Camera from Avigilon offers an exceptional quality, high-resolution, true day/night outdoor solution!
