On the 6th February 2020 AXIS announced their plans to discontinue the AXIS Companion hardware products.
Axis made the decision to discontinue the Companion range as a result of their decision to only include NDAA-Compliant products in their large portfolio.
Their statement explained:
It has been confirmed that Axis will start by discontinuing the following lines as early as 28th February 2020
The remaining hardware within the AXIS Companion range is set to be discontinued by the end of April 2020
How Does This Affect You?
Don’t worry, if you own an AXIS Companion camera or recorder you won’t need to take any further action. Axis will continue to offer technical support on all of the AXIS Companion hardware products, and all products will maintain their warranty.
Their statement continues to say:
AXIS Companion VMS
The free AXIS Companion video management software will remain a key part of their end-to-end solutions. Users can pair this VMS with other products from their portfolio including camera, door stations and audio devices.
There are also plans to release a new recorder for small systems, with a NDAA-compliant chip towards the end of this year.
If you are looking to purchase any of this range before it is discontinued, please email your enquiry to sales@use-ip.co.uk where we will be happy to assist and look into stock levels for you. Alternatively you may be interested in the rest of the AXIS range.

“Even though a non-NDAA-compliant chip was used in these specific products, they were designed by Axis and in-house developed firmware is utilized in order to secure quality and maintainability. With that in mind, we don’t see a risk in having these chips in our products and there is no need for you to take any action.”
