Camera to read number plates

Hi

I am looking for a camera to read number plates of stationary cars from around 20m, I would to do this day and night but if there is a significant price difference daytime only will do.

I currently have some Hiwatch IPC-D140 2.8mm 4MP cameras, these do not appear to be capable of doing this.

They are connected to a QNAP NAS running the surveillance station software.

Any recommendations please?

If you need to read plates in the dark, then a specialist camera such as HikVision's 4A25 / 4A26:
Hikvision DS-2CD4A25FWD-IZS 2MP Lightfighter Smart IP Outdoor Bullet Camera
Hikvision DS-2CD4A26FWD-IZHS | 2MP Darkfighter IR Array Bullet Network Camera
(for 20m distance you would need the longer focal length variant e.g. 8-32mm)

Otherwise, for daytime only, any camera with adequate lens zoom to deliver the detail e.g.
Hikvision DS-2DE4220IW-DE 2MP 20X PTZ Camera
