Can I get my iDS-7716NXI-I4/16P/8S to use a TandemVu PTZ?

Hello - I've been working on this for days and have come to a dead-end, so I would appreciate any help. I have a iDS-7716NXI-I4/16P/8S unit running a range of fairly standard cameras. However, I've just added a TandemVu PTZ DS-2SE4C425MWG-E/26 PTZ. I can get everything working using the camera's settings direct, but can only see the PTZ channel on my NVR. When adding, I was not presented with any options to see the second panoramic channel, and I can see no options in the NVR settings to use more than one channel per camera. I've tried everything, and read a number of similar posts, but I'm now thinking it's because my unit is relatively out-of-date, and I'm on firmware V4.1.25 build 181028, which I'm assuming, does not cater for dual channels from a single camera.

A couple of questions - first, is there a more recent firmware that I could upgrade to (this is the latest based on the Hikvision site on the spec page for this NVR, although there might be more recent versions somewhere else)? If I can't get my unit to update further, do most of the current new NVR models come with firmware that will work with my TandemVu, even if they're still on V4, or is it just a V5 thing?

Thanks for your help - appreciated.

You might check hik partner pro firmware search. You can search there by serial number

Secondly. Maybe UI does not let you add both channels, but using POSTMAN and POST or PUT will work.

I had problem on 1 camera where i could not enter ftp domain because it supported maximum of 16 characters. I used postman and applied with PUT request directly and it worked.

I have a feeling your unit is too old to be compatible with the TandemVu cameras. I'm surprised the unit has firmware dated 2018 because as far back as I remember, units around that time only had bog standard motion detection without the fancy AI features.

The Hikvision EU portal lists firmware version 4.1.28 (dated 2020), but this predates the TandemVu cameras I think, so uncertain if it will resolve your issue however it might still be worth trying.

Regarding your second question, most newer recorders running post-2023 firmware should be compatible with your camera and should detect both channels.

I'll provide an update which might help someone else in the future. You were right, RetiredDinosaur, my NVR was probably too old, even at 6-7 years. Whilst I could see the PTZ, I couldn't find a way to add, or even acknowledge there was a second camera on board. The firmware I had for the NVR looked up to date, leaving little else I could do to solve the issue, other than changing the NVR, which I did.

I opted for the new DeepInMind iDS-7716NXI-M4/16P/X which has plenty of power on board for AI processing of images, etc, and runs the new V5 firmware, which I was hoping would be compatible with the PTZ. After upgrading the new NVR to the very latest firmware, the PTZ was added, and it was clear it knew there was two feeds from the camera, but once again only the PTZ was showing, and I couldn't see the panoramic, and no matter what I did (I followed previous users' posts on how they tackled this problem) I could not get the second feed onto a spare channel in Video Device list. I tried manually adding it, but each time it noticed the IP address of the camera was the same, and rejected it. I switched off the DHCP on the wider network, but couldn't see such as option (as suggested) on the local side of the NVR, so I hit a brick wall on getting through this restriction on being able to add a second camera with the same IP address. I almost gave up, but decided once last try using IVMS, which appeared only loosely compatible with the V5 NVR with some of the menus and options not showing properly (perhaps it's an older version of IVMS), but remarkably it allowed me to add an additional channel on the same IP address! Magic! It also had a simple option to state which camera this addition was for (defaulted to 1, or course), but when I changed this to 2, the panoramic camera from my TandemVu unit was added, and all the available intrusion detection, line crossing, etc was also available as with the rest of the channels.

I got there by luck, and genuinely believe HikVision have forgotten to add the ability to add a second TandemVu channel to this latest release of their V5 firmware. By using a dated version of IVMS did I manage to circumnavigate the IP conflict restriction that I could see no way of getting past. Once my second feed was added, everything worked as it should, including the firmware on the unit and web seeing the combination of the two channels on the same IP address as though it was very normal.

Anyway, it's working, but I hope HikVision remember to work this out in later releases, but don't hold your breath. In the meantime, this may be useful to anyone hoping to save a couple of days to get a TandemVu unit installed!
