Hello,

i am trying to connect a Sony IP camera with a DVR from Hikvision which support also up to 2 IP cameras.

The Sony camera is working well with SNC toolbox, but when i connect the camera via the LAN cable with the DVR, it can't be find. I've put the camera on the same network with the LAN of the DVR...nothing, I've tried also adding the camera manually, adding IP address of the camera, user, admin, protocol ONVIF...but nothing.

Another question is, how to enable ONVIF on the Sony camera, after some research i found that you have to create an ONVIF profile on all IP cameras before connecting it to DVR/NVR. But i didn't find anything related to "ONVIF" in the settings menu. In the Manufacturer's website they are saying that this type of cameras have ONVIF profile S, but as i said, in the setting menu, nothing about ONVIF.

I am doing something wrong ??

Thanks!!!

Add your Sony camera to your network and check it is ONVIF ok with the ONVIF Device Manager utility.

What model DVR do you have please?
How many cameras connected? (analogue & IP)

If you add the camera to your LAN and prove that as per #2 then we have moved on a few steps - we will know that you have a working ONVIF camera at a valid network IP address and we can then try to progress getting the DVR to also see it.

I will come with updates tonight or tommorow after checking with ONVIF device manager. But another question, can a camera from a brand work without creating an ONVIF user ?like by default working with ONVIF, without speacial onvif user created.

Hi @ahuramazda

Whether a camera requires an ONVIF user to be set up varies from brand to brand.

I don't know what the situation is with Sony cameras, you would need to log in to the camera and check if an ONVIF user is required or if any other ONVIF settings need to be enabled.
