Lately we have noticed a rise in popularity of Dahua’s (leading Chinese IP surveillance manufacturer) range of cameras and NVRs because of both their price and capability. We have tested many of their cameras and NVRs and we have previously written a review of the HFW2100P a 1.3MP bullet camera which we were very pleased with.
Today we will be looking at the IPC-HFW3200SP, a 2MP compact mini bullet camera.

This small device has some great features. As said before this is a 2MP camera that can shoot 30fps at full 1080P resolution. Using its on-board LEDs allows for day/night functionality, which means you can see up to 20m at 0LUX. This camera uses DWDR (Digital Wide Dynamic Range), which makes images a lot more sharp and clear. This camera is also IP66 rated and uses PoE (This is the preferred method of 95% of our customers).

As with all Dahua cameras, this model is great quality and cost-effective. We recently unboxed it for our YouTube channel:

This camera is very compact and would fit into most environments, with its small design and white finish. The installation of this camera is simple; you have 3 screws holes to the rear of the camera and because this camera uses PoE, you only need one cable going to the camera. As with other new cameras, this model uses a ‘Pig Tail’ style PoE from the rear of the camera, which is becoming a more and more popular design for IP cameras. Below we have some images of the rear of the camera and the PoE port.

Dahua’s web client is very good, easy to use and navigate around. From this client, you can view the camera live, take snapshots and choose all settings for the camera. To record from this camera, we used two different options. First was the using Dahua's own NVR, the NVR3216V-P 16 Channel, which as with other Dahua cameras I felt coupled well together. This device is also ONVIF compliant so we set it up to record with our QNAP VioStor. Below are some screen shots of the web client and a snapshot taken from the Dahua NVR.

We also captured some sample footage of this camera:

I feel that this is an excellent cost-effective camera from Dahua that would fit perfectly any existing CCTV system or would be ideal for starting a new system. I would suggest that this camera is best suited to a small business, school or home environment because of its size, capability and price. Whether couple with an ONVIF NVR or one of Dahua’s own NVR’s, this camera would make a great cost-effective solution.
