hi everyone, I found these 2 models of Nvr hikvision : DS-7608NXI-I2/8P/4S e DS-7608NXI-I2/8P/S easy ip 4.0, they have different functions I saw on the hikvision catalog, the DS-7608NXI-I2/8P/4S Function :
Human/vehicle
classification on
4-channel VCA results
by 2 MP, 3 MP and 4 MP
network cameras

DS-7608NXI-I2/8P/S

Human/vehicle
classification on allchannel
motion detection
results and
on 4-channel VCA results
by 2 MP network cameras;
1-channel face capture
capacity;
1-channel face
comparision capacity

i don't understand what the vca differences mean. what is the most complete model of the 2? The second one? thanks

Hi @ste92

I can't see any reference on the Hikvision Website (both their global and EU sites) to the /S model you list above, the only model we can see is the /4S and as this support VCA results from higher-resolution cameras it would be the one we would recommend. But we can't say much more than that as these models are not available in the UK and we have no experience with them.

ok, anyway in the hikvision brochure there is written the difference which is what I wrote in the first message. I wanted to try these new easy ip 4.0 nvrs but I don't know which one to take ..

Hi @ste92

As I briefly explained above, the /4S model supports applying the AcuSense VCA features to 4 non-AcuSense cameras at a max. of 4MP resolution, while the /S model will only support this feature at a max. of 2MP. Also, to make use of the Face Capture/Face Recognition feature of the /S model you would need to also have specialist Face Capture/Recognition cameras which are much more expensive. (especially for a feature that is not really required in most residential/small scale systems)

thanks, but the DS-7608NXI-I2/8P/4S model, always has vca functions like line crossing, intrusion etc? as in the 7608 ni I2 model?

Yes, you are correct that all the I-series NVRs support smart events/VCA but specifically the AcuSense NVRs offer the ability to apply the AcuSense VCA features (false alarm filtering/quick target searching/human &vehicle detection) to up to 4 x non-AcuSense cameras, and in the case of the /4S model that is up to 4 x 4MP non-AcuSense cameras rather than the 4 x 2MP non-AcuSense cameras that the /S model offers.

As I have said previously these models are not available in the UK so we have no hands-on experience with these models and all our knowledge is based on what Hikvision have posted online in their documents, there may be some smaller differences between the models which you would only find by experiencing both models so I would recommend you actually speak to a supplier in your region that stocks both and ask them for the differences between the models.
