DS-7204HQHi-K1 Issue with Firmware 4.21.000

Hi I recently upgraded my firmware on my DS-7204HQHU-K1 to firmware 4.21.000 and it caused all sorts of video stutter issues when using hik-connect, the image would either be stuttering in playback, sometimes in live view, it would jump around on the progress bar on playback and just generally cause all sorts of issues. is this a common issue for this unit and firmware? There is at least 1 other person on another forum I've visited who reports similar issues on a slightly different unit.

Could you confirm if this firmware should actually be installed on this unit? The unit itself doesn't find an update if I check via the DVR it can only be put on manually. I have tried both the UK and the EU versions of the firmware (although I think they are actually the same files).

I have tried to upgrade progressively from 4.20 to 4.20.001 or 4.20.100 but the unit refuses to install them, if I try to put them on via USB and upgrade via the main unit, the unit doesn't even see the files, it will literally only let me put 4.21.000 on which is causing me my issues.

To confirm my unit is a Western Europe unit and not one of the grey imports that some people end up with.

For now I have rolled back to 4.20.000 which is working perfectly except I am missing all of the new features of 4.21

The self-checking feature i.e. of what is the current latest firmware version has unfortunately never been reliable.

It is best to check the UK/EU portals for the latest available firmware for you model.

If there is newer firmware at the portal, then it should be fine to install and run it.

As we are IP specialists we seldom get involved with DVRs (for analogue / co-ax CCTV cameras) so we haven't experienced the issues you saw.
