Hello
I have a ds-7208 hikvision
the device turns on the led lights on and fan on but there is nothing on the monitor
I sent it to a service shop it turns out its something to do with resolution i took it home and pluged the cameras the same problem occurred
Any thoughts on how to fix it?
Thanks in advance

Have you tried a different monitor and/or different connection if avaialble?
For example connect it via VGA instead of HDMI.

More information needed. When you say there's nothing on the monitor do you mean nothing at all or gridlines and menus visible but no camera images? Do you get anything at all on the monitor when you first power up the recorder? Even if the resolution was set incorrectly on the recorder, you would still see the Hikvision logo at boot up, as it is displayed at a lower resolution to the monitor output setting. As @Phil says, if you're getting no image at all out of the HDMI output, try the VGA connector.

If you have set VGA/HDMI output resolution to 1920x1080 and you are using a monitor which does not support that resolution you wont be able to get image.

Log in to your DVR web interface and lower the output resolution in System setings -> Menu output

Thank you.
It just stopped working.
I’ll have to arrange for my head office to sort it.
Was hoping it was something like a cable

Today it has started to try and boot up.
Can hear a spinning noise , it beeps, screen comes on then goes off again.

How do I do that please?
Can I do that?
Or would I need to log it with my head office to get an engineer out?

You could do it.

First step is try and see if its gonna work with TFTP only. In some cases it works in some you need additional serial connection to hik device.

TFTP server : Download Tftpd64 by Ph. Jounin
Get a firmware for your device:

Set your PC ipv4 address to 192.0.0.128
Put firmware digicap.dav in the TFTP folder
Start TFTP server
Start DVR

If it starts transmitting there is high chance it will work. If it does not transmit , then you need serial cable to 4pin port on DVR motherboard.

you also either need putty or secureCRT to write cmd's using serial connection.

When you get access via serial connection and TFTP is up and ready, you type following commands.

set ipaddr 192.0.0.64
set serverIp 192.0.0.128
update

If that does not work:

setenv ';set ipaddr 192.0.0.64'
setenv ';set serverIp 192.0.0.128'
setenv ';update'

The most challenging part will be getting a hold of serial cable to 4pin.

Good luck
