Hi All,

I'm pulling my hair out here and would really appreciate some help getting this "simple" camera add done. Please, please, please.

Model DS-7208HUHI-K1 running the latest firmware v.4.30.300 build 210415 (none newer?) Same issue with the older firmware V4.25.001 build 201107

Trying to add a Reolink RTSP/ONVIF 2K doorbell camera as an IP Camera but getting Parameter Error from HikVision.

The camera resolution per stream is not changeable but it isn't unusual (Frame rate, bit rate and i-frame are all changeable though) and Hikvision won't allow me to add any different path to the low resolution if this could be the problem.

I can quickly and easily view the camera using rtsp://ipaddress from other tools such as VLC and TinyCam Pro just really struggling for hours with Hikvision.

These are the two URLs that work with the camera with VLC –
  • Main stream: rtsp://(user name):(password)@(ip address):554/h264Preview_01_main
  • Sub stream: rtsp://(user name):(password)@(ip address):554/h264Preview_01_sub

What am I doing wrong or what else can I try please?

Well, what do you know.

Turns out my theory was correct. Hikvision will not allow a camera to be installed if it's configured with a vertical resolution over 2160. I've now got the Black version with the resolution fixed in horizontal/landscape at 2560*1920 and it added immediately.

The white portrait 1920*2560 version with package detection cannot be added to Hikvision as there is some internal limit on the vertical resolution set at 2160.
Just adding some further info. from the Hikvision Log file:

When I add another (Wanscam) IP camera this is the correct data that appears in the log and it's added correctly:

IP address: 192.168.1.112

But when I try and add the Reolink IP camera the log is slightly different - what does "Camera Status: Exceed" Mean ? I'm simply trying to add a 3rd IP camera and it's H264 with a maximum resolution (1920*2560) below others already in place

Could it possibly be that this Reolink doorbell comes in two versions:

*) white portrait 1920*2560 resolution with package detection - this is the one that I'm using
*) black landscape 2560*1920 resolution

and Hikvision is barfing that the *2560 vertical dimension exceeds some internal maximum ?

I've got another IP camera running correctly within Hikvision that is 3840x2160
