DS-7604NI-K1 & 2xx5FWD Firmware Updates and Time Settings?

Hi Folks,
It has been quite some considerable time since I last updated the firmware/software on my set-up and so I am thinking that I should probably do it now.

I have a DS-7604NI-K1 Unit which is currently showing the firmware as being v4.30.085 build 210409

There are two cameras attached, these being :-
DS-2CD2155FWD-1 running v5.6.5 with a build number of 200316
DS-2CD2035FWD-1 running v5.6.5 also with a build number of 200316.

I have been through all of the settings on the screen attached to the unit and the date/time is showing correct but, the time on the images is one hour ahead of what it should be.
I have also logged in to Hik-Connect on-line and once again the date and times are all correct in the 'Configuration Settings' but the images are showing the one hour ahead again.

Can someone explain how I might correct this please and, to advise what the latest Firmware Versions are that I should be using, can I do the update in one or should it be done in stages and, to point me in the direction as to where I will find the latest versions please.

The latest firmware versions for your NVR and cameras are below:

NVR - V4.30.097_build240401
Cameras - V5.6.820 220519

In regards to time settings, if the time doesn't correct itself after the firmware update then you probably don't have DST/Daylight Saving configured.

@Dan - best change your DST Bias to 60 minutes or you’ll have similar issues

Hello Dan, Thank you so much for your help with this. It is very much appreciated.

I will have a look for the guide to doing the updates and hopefully try to get it done later today.

@JB1970, thank you for your tip. I will look at that too as despite having configured DST it is still showing as an hour out. As Dan says, the update may solve it.

Right then folks. I have updated the firmware for the NVR and it has worked perfectly, the time is also now showing as correct.

Unfortunately I seem to have forgotten how to update the firmware for my cameras. I have tried doing it the same way (On-Line) as I did for the NVR but that does not seem to work. I have unzipped the update file and have placed it in the C:// drive but I just get an error message that says 'upgrade failed'.
Should I be doing this through the monitor/menu that is connected to the NVR and by transferring the upgrade file to a USB stick?

The old grey matter is less efficient when you're in your 85th year!

If your cameras are directly connected to the PoE ports on the NVR, you will need to enable Virtual Host which creates virtual links to be able to login to each directly connected camera and update the firmware.

If the directly connected cameras were activated using 'Plug & Play' they will more than likely use the same username & password as the NVR.

Hello again Dan, I have followed the instructions on using the 'Virtual Host' method (I had already set this up previously) and I can log onto the camera's with no problems. However, when I come to 'Upgrade' and I browse to the file, when I click on it I cannot get it to populate the box on the screen ready to proceed with the upgrade. I have 'unzipped' the file OK and this is what I am looking at :-
IPC_G1_EN_STD_5.6.820_220519

Okay,

It could be that, due to the age of your cameras and their firmware, they don't support modern browser access.

You might have to try doing the firmware update via iVMS-4200(V3.12.0.7_E) instead.

I have 'unzipped' the file OK and this is what I am looking at :-
IPC_G1_EN_STD_5.6.820_220519

I’m sure that’s still zipped. Once unzipped it would just be called ‘digicap.dav’ regardless of version.

I do have a digicap.dav file that I used for updating the NVR. I didn't think that that was to be used for the camera upgrading aswell, particularly as Dan had pointed me to IPC_G1_EN_STD_5.6.820_220519 for the cameras.

Correct. They will be two different files. They have different file names before unzipping but will have the same name after unzipping (digicap.dav)

Delete the file you have called digicap.dav (the NVR is updated so you don’t need it anymore. Unzip the file called IPC_G1_EN_STD_5.6.820_220519 and that will generate another digicap.dav file for your cameras. It’s easy to overlook as they unzip to the same file name. On a Mac they end up numbered digicap.dav(2), digicap.dav(3) etc. It’s quite possible that the one you think is for the NVR is the camera one having overwritten the original. However to be certain, delete it and unzip it again. When you browse to the file to upgrade in the camera menu (using virtual host) you must select digicap.dav and not ‘IPC_G1_EN….’

Will highlighting the file and then right-clicking and choosing 'Extract-All' give the same end result as downloading an unzipping app, which I don't have at the moment.
The Extract-All method worked for the NVR update but with the file for the camera update it seems not so.

Yes right click > extract all should decompress/unzip/extract it. You might find that rather than 'digicap.dav' appearing directly, you get a new folder called "IPC_G1_EN_STD_5.6.820_220519" with the digicap.dav file inside it.

You just need to make sure that when prompted to select the file to upgrade you navigate all the way into that folder and click on 'Digicap.dav' IE:

• Login to the camera then Configuration > Maintenance
• Beneath 'Upgrade' click the Browse button
• Navigate all the way to the file inside the folder and click the file then Upload
• The web page should now be showing 'digicap.dav' in the text box
• Click Upgrade
