Hello, I have a problem with a Hikvision NVR, DS-7608NI-E2/8P/A. Every time I connect it to the monitor, the date is set to 01.01.2004. The current firmware is V.3.4.6. Build 160405. According to the recording date and time, the last recording in the NVR is from 09.mar.2022 – 12:44:21. Recordings from March 9, 2022 until the end of 2023 are missing. Some videos have the date 2005 in the image, but they obviously come from 2022-2023. Is it possible to find out from the log file whether the date and time were intentionally changed, or could it be caused by outdated firmware? Is it necessary to update the camera firmware when updating the firmware of this model? What are the most common problems that outdated firmware in the NVR can cause?
Thank you

The button cell on the pcb very likely needs to be replaced:

As Phil says it'll likely be the battery on the main board. The latest and last version for that NVR is 3.4.106_230316 available here:

It's always best to keep both cameras and NVR up to date with firmware, though you're unlikely to see issues by just updating the NVR.

Thank you very much for informations.
And another question is, what this line in the log file means:

************** the 1th hard disk currlog file 127 segement has 4 log**********

Hi @Figazz

Can you go to Menu > System Maintenance > HDD Detect in the NVR?

You should see the HDD S.M.A.R.T test menu, please select "Short Test" and click the "Test" button to start the test.

Once the test is complete, please confirm if the HDD has passed or failed the test.
