Hello again!!! Jan Janowski from Western North Carolina...
Another question for you on HikVision DS2CD2042WD-1 cameras...
I have two that are outside POE "Critter Cameras" and Save Motion Pics and Videos on Sysnology NAS...
I just bought a third one used.... and after I install V5.5.53 firmware in it (if needed)... I'll configure it for ftp'ing Mot Detect pics for inside use (no video licenses left with Synology)...

The reason why I'm Posting is: I am not going to be using POE for this camera... I plan on using existing +12V supply... Last two I used as POE as they were mounted outside...

On this model camera, is there anything I'd like to know about powering it off of a local supply, other than +12V is center Pin, Ground outside shell, and it needs a 12V 1/2A supply?

Thanks for any postings!
Jan

Yes, as you say ~ 12 volts DC; centre pin positive

1/2A =12v supply good enough? I'm hoping to use prior cameras supply... Thanks

Received camera yesterday.... Just finished the install (yes! it needed new V5.5.53 Firmware!!-What a surprise!)
Once I remembered to check "Enable Ecent-Triggered Snapshot" in Schedule Settings/Capture Parameters ---- That is!!
(I keep having to re-learn this one location to enable!!) :)!
Local power supply worked fine! (I wound +12V line around a Ferrite Bead just because I had them!

Thanks again for the assistance!
