What is the NVR3216V-P?
The Dahua NVR3216V-P is a 16-channel 2HDD PoE Vertical NVR (Network Video Recorder), designed specifically for Dahua cameras, although it can be used with a wide range of other cameras. This device is idea for personal use or small and medium businesses that either have Dahua cameras already running or are looking to install reliable, reasonably priced and easy-to-use cameras and need to record and back up footage.

Main Features:
The NVR3216V-P has up to 16 channels with 1080p realtime live view. The device also supports H.264/MJPEG dual codec decoding and a maximum 120fps@1080p, 240fps@720p,480fps@D1 preview & recording. All of the channels have simultaneous realtime playback, GRID interface & smart search. Dahua have made it easier to connect to cameras by using ONVIF Version 2.0. Concerning storage, it supports 2 SATA HDDs up to 8TB, 1 eSATA up to 16TB, 3 USB2.0. On the back of the device there are 4 PoE ports, which means you can plug cameras directly into the device as well as finding them on the network. You can view the device from a easy-to-use web-based interface.

How to set up using a local monitor:
In this tutorial use-IP will be showing you how to complete a basic set-up of a NVR3216V-P to a local monitor. Before you start, make sure you have all the components that are displayed above.

First, connect both AC power adaptors, VGA cable, USB adaptor and a network cable to the back of the device.

Now turn the device on. After 30 seconds you will hear 2 beeps which means that the device has turned on and has looked for a HDD.
Note: You may hear a beep every 5 seconds. This is due to not having a configured hard drive inserted. Unfortunately, you cannot turn the noise off until you have completed the startup wizard!


Your monitor should now power on and you will be presented with a set up page:

This is followed by a login page. Click the username drop down box and click ‘admin’; the default password is ‘admin’. (It is suggested to change this password after initial set up)

The first screen is a general set up screen. On this page you can set the time, date format, language ect.

Once you have entered the information on this page, click 'Next Step'. You are now on the Network Settings page. We suggest that you leave this all as default (set the IP address to one of your choice) but do check that all information is correct.

The next page is a camera set up page. For the purposes of this tutorial we are going to skip this step, but you can connect to any devices and add them to the system from here.

Next is the schedule page, which you can customize as you wish. For the purposes of this tutorial we are leaving it as default.​
