This was tested on a iDS-2CD7A46G0/P-IZHSY LPR camera. The problem is that you need to set up motion or continuous recordings in order to save footage to an SD card. Continuous recordings take up a lot of space, which is not good since currently the max storage space currently offered on a micro sd card is 1 TB (crazy I know). Motion recordings are also clunky and do not work well in the dark especially on LPR cameras where everything is so dim. Unfortunately the "event" schedule doesn't actually cover VCA events, just basic and smart events.

The solution is to have the alarm output trigger when a plate is detected (whether in the allow list, block list, or other list), and then start recording when an alarm input is detected. Basically you just need to wire the alarm output to the input on the terminal block like shown below. Then set the recording schedule and prerecording/post recording times. And thats it. Now every plate that is detected you can have a video recording made which is useful in case the snapshots aren't legible.
