Help with Error on a new HIKVision DS-7204HTHI-K1 DVR - "The current recoding resolution has exceeded control's capability"?

I have a new HIKVision DS-7204HTHI-K1

Firmware: V4.21.100 build 200307
Encoding Version: V5.0 build 200116

When I try to play something back in main or sub stream i get the following error:

The current recoding resolution has exceeded control's capability

I can watch about 5 secs of video and then the playback freezes.
I can dowload the file and watch no problem. But I can't play it back through the web browser.
The monitor i'm watching on is a 2k monitor.

Any ideas guys?

Which cameras do you have on this recoder?

I have 3 Hikvision

Hi @Davetrott

That camera is a 4K analog camera and the DVR model you have does support 4K/8MP input but only for IP cameras (see below screenshot of DVR specs), for analog cameras it will only support up to 4/5MP resolution. (depending on the video standard - AHD or HDCVI)

If you go into the video/stream settings for those 4K cameras and reduce their resolution to 4/5MP then you should stop getting that error message.
