Hi,
do you know the ONVIF port for the camera?
Do you have concerns about camera phoning home (aka some cheap Revo*** cam from amazon?)?
IF not, do you have 12V power supply to plug into your network?
You could just plug it into the POE port and see whether IP is recognised under Configuration / Camera Management.
If yes, but you it is listed as offline, click on the "operations" hyperlink, change the "Adding Method" from "Plug and Play" to "Manual"
Select ONVIF and Protocol , enter the ONVIF port for your camera and username/password.
That might just be it.
If its not recognised, then you neeed to change the IP address and Gateway of the camera to match the Subnet range of the Hikvision NVR .
make sure you set this as an address that doesn’t clash with any other cameras already attached to the NVR / Gateway.
How you do that depends on the camera and the software that came with the camera (if its one of the cheap Revo cams, the software usually doesn't work and in that case ONVIF Device Manager is probably your best bet.
Also hanging at admin password is usually a must before you add it to the NVR. unless you then change it on the camera (virtual host enabled on the NVR) and change the password in the NVR to match.
Some cameras have no factory reset, in that case changing admin password should be done very carefully. (and maybe additional admin user set up to have way back in... )
edit, actually here was is a post from Dan..
Optio as a range is designed and works best as a complete system, but some users out there will already have systems from other manufacturers and might just be looking for a cheaper option of adding one or more cameras to their existing system. In this post, we will take you through both methods...
