Hi,

I recently added 1 IP camera using a POE switch to my 4 Channel DVR DS-7204HQHI-F/N setup. Today I have been trying to add more 1 additional IP camera using the POE switch to the current set up but the configuration menu won't allow me to add anymore IP cameras. According to the Hikvision website I'm able to have up to 5 Network cameras. So I can't see where the problem lies!

Any help appreciated.

Thanks

Tek

Hi @Tek2020

Looking at the Hikvision website screenshot you have shared that is actually a different model. (that is an HGH model and you have HQH)

Searching for your model number on Google I found this datasheet which says it only supports 1 x IP channel up to 1080p (2MP)

So it looks like your DVR model will only support one IP camera.

Hi Dan,

Thanks for clearing that up. So it's only 1 then that's a shame. I suppose I can still connect the poe ip cam I have and use the Hik-Connect app and use it via that. The only problem would be that there's no continuous recording. I believe that Hik-Connect you can only stream the cam and it also sends you screen shots as push notifications when there's movements on the image.

Does anyone have an idea of what would be the most cost effective way to get this ip cam to record on a hard drive. I'm thinking maybe to buy a cheapish NVR and just set it up as a new device in my iVMS4500.?

If it is only to record the single additional IP camera and you do not plan to expand to more IP cameras in the near future, then the cheapest recording option would be to install a MicroSD card in the camera. If the additional camera is 2MP model you can get roughly 10-14 days of continuous recording (depending on settings and CODEC) on a 256GB card. If you need to record for longer or you are adding 1 or 2 more cameras in the future then we would recommend a DS-7604NI-K1/4P(B) 4-channel NVR and a Western Digital Purple HDD. (MicroSD card recording may not be an option depending on the Hikvision camera model you have as some models do not support it)
