Just a quickie to let you know that after a fair amount of testing here we're happy to recommend the new HikVision h.265+ CODEC.
It seems to have little to no impact upon picture / recording / playback quality, but does save a lot of bandwidth and storage space.
Using h.265+ and a 128GB microSD card with an 8MP turret camera set to record at maximum stream settings and 20fps we were able to record for 36 hours before overwriting.
We'll upload a 4K video to YouTube to illustrate this shortly. NB To really get an idea of the 4K image quality, play it back on your big screen TV.
