Hi everyone,

I currently have two Hikvision DS-2CD2387G2-L(C) and six DS-2CD2347G2H-LIU(eF) on a DS-7732NXI-I4-S(E) NVR.
The NVR is on V5.03.020_240904. I tried to update the firmware to V5.04.027_241213, but after the update, some cameras stopped working saying something like "insufficient decoding resource". I downgraded it back to V5.03.020_240904 and everything was OK again after rebooting, but has this happened to any of you? Should I have factory reset it(hope not), removed/re-added the cameras, etc.?

On the cameras I have the latest firmware available V5.7.19_241207 but since some features are missing on the 8mp ones until hikvision releases the new fixed firmware and since I read here somewhere if I remember correctly that the V5.7.15 is the best version so far I wanted to find and try that older version (no luck) for my cameras on the hikvision portal and I saw this announcement "We have launched a new Firmware Search feature, please visit Here to check for the latest firmware updates"
I tried to register as an end user but I can't figure out what the "Verification Code*" is. There is no mention anywhere about it and it is required. I tried several browser, no adblocking or plugins to block/cover any captcha. Any idea what it is?

Do you know of any links where I can download slightly older versions? Because I only found very old versions or the latest.

Thank you!

The 5.7.15 version for the G5's is on the portal here:

UK Portal - G5 Camera

With regard to the 'not enough decoding resource' message on the NVR, you will probably find on the local menu that there's a switch for 'enable enhanced decoding' (or similar wording) on the newer version firmware. Toggle that switch to the opposite position and it'll likely resolve the issue.

I updated the NVR again today from V5.03.020_240904 to V5.04.027_241213 and out of the 8 cameras (6 of 4mp and two of 8mp) it shows me in live view (3x3) only 7 cameras (the 6/4mp and one 8mp). For the other 8mp one it says "not enough decoding resources".
I can make that camera to work by selecting the second stream for it or by selecting the second stream for two other 4mp cameras and have the 8mp ones on the main stream, but not all on the main stream, like before.

So, in the previous firmware, everything worked (all cameras on the main stream in live view 3x3). With the new firmware it seems like a downgrade, now the device does not have enough resources.
I did not find anything about "enhanced decoding" in the options, there is no such setting. But this seems strange as why should I have such an option, why is it not enabled by default as it was before in the previous firmware?

Any idea what I should do?

Yup, total mystery this time too.
I probably need to factory reset everything and hope that upon reconfiguration everything will work again as it should. Detection and alerts aren't quite right after the firmware upgrade either, so I'll reset everything and see.
Regarding the lack of mosaic mode and the 4 privacy masks instead of 8 on the 8mp cameras (my other thread), not even Hikvision was able to come up with a concrete answer. I think somewhere along the way when they kept fixing/improving the firmware they mixed/combined the firmware with the one on the 4mp ones which don't have mosaic mode and only have 4 privacy masks.
Quite disappointed with the Hikvision experience so far.

If the setting is there, it will be in the local ui but possibly not in the web browser ui. I can’t say for sure as I don’t have that model or firmware version. As for it not being enabled by default (if it is there), that’s just typical of Hikvision’s statement in all of their release notes where they ‘apologise for change of use’. Updates are not mandatory so really it’s the choice of the end user. Best bet when a new version arrives is to wait until someone else checks it out and says all is well (or throws their toys out of the pram because it’s buggy…)

Thanks, but that setting really isn't anywhere locally or in the web gui.
So I updated everything and reconfigured again.

As for the NVR, it sees all the cameras, it doesn't give that limited resources error anymore, so it was just a bug from the update. About the V5.04.027 update it seems OK, it added or improved some things, but changed others not really to my liking, so I'll probably go back to V5.03.020_240904 but before that I'll try V5.01.060_240110 which I found on the EU portal, there's nothing on the UK for my NVR version (E).

Regarding the cameras, I don't notice anything new in version V5.7.19_241207, but my impression is that the detection is weaker than V5.7.18_240826, which I will come back to, but before that I will try V5.7.14_231213 maybe I can find the mosaic mode with the 8 intimate masks that are missing from the 8mp cameras and also V5.7.15_240411, which I saw here being praised as being the best version so far in terms of detection.
Conclusion, completely ignore the following sentence "we highly recommend you to update your device to the latest firmware asap." and if it's not broken, you're not missing something, or you're not bored, don't fix it.

I've never seen/noticed that in any version. I think it only applies to 3 line cameras (DS-2CD3xxx) which also use the G5 platform firmware.
V5.7.15_240411, which I saw here being praised as being the best version so far in terms of detection.
Yes it's the last version on which 'Dual VCA' works. On that version you can use the Human/Vehicle filter when setting the events up but can still search for non Human/Vehicle later. On all versions since, a VCA search or Smart search will yield no results if the Human/Vehicle filter was elected during event set up (unless the event was Human/Vehicle)

Agreed. If its going to be a pain to downgrade after finding something that's not working correctly, better to leave the update until others have confirmed whether it's good or bad.

At first I believed that firmwares v5.7.17 to firmware v5.7.19 had this issue only with NXI-K Acusense series NVR.
@JB1970 confirmed that the "Dual VCA info" problem also exists on other series NVR. Newer and more expensive.
What I have tried so far is :

  • added as ONVIF(motion only is OK smart not allowed)
  • added with Hikvision RTSP(no events and no configuration allowed)
  • changed from SSDs to HDD
  • enabled HDD group, different disk for each camera
  • enabled all Metadata options and each one separately
  • changed VGA/HDMI output resolution to 720P
  • reduced resolution, fps, iframe interval
  • set recording to Sub-Stream with various Frame rates, bitrates and resolutions
  • enabled H264(no +)
  • disabled SVC
  • changed fps and max Bitrate on Main Stream(Event)
  • enabled Alarm Server, set the NVR and its IP
  • enabled multicast for camera and NVR
  • enabled uPnP
  • enabled UDP only and TCP only(non auto)
  • reduced to zero advanced configuration false Alarm Filtering on Smart events. Dynamic Analysis for Motion is Smart too
  • enabled all kind of Events, even if not needed and enabled all kind of notifications
  • enabled HDD all kind of Event Recordings(non Continuous)
  • enabled VCA by NVR(NXI-K), not working there too
  • enabled Timing snapshot and Event triggered snapshot
  • re-formatted the HDDs and SDcard with the newer firmwares
  • Removed all cameras from iVMS4200 and uninstalled iVMS4200

Nothing worked.
Also,
  • there is no option in Hik Partner Pro to set or check Save VCA Data on NVR Storage Management(Dual VCA seems enabled on camera Display Info on Stream)
  • there is no option in SDK client Demo to check or set dual VCA. Settings here seem exactly the same for v5.7.15 and v5.7.19
What I have not checked is if all cameras on NVR need to be upgraded on newer firmware and not just the one that is tested
