HikVision or something else?

Over the years, I've noticed that HikVision software and the Apps. have had a few bugs or only operate on legacy web browsers (IE).

Are these issues still present with the modern HikVision recorders and is IE still required with the WebComponents download to remotely administrate? Can motion detect zones be reliably configured remotely on a browser?

If not, what are the alternatives. I've found in the past that Dahua NVRs aren't as good as HikVision.

Recorders of the I-Series you can configure without any problems on firefox or other "modern" browsers. And also without webcomponents-Plugin.
The K-Series NVR unfortunately require webcomponents and Internet explorer.

The DVRs with Firmware 4.X+ can also be configured without plugin on modern browsers.

In IP-Cameras it depends on the Firmware of the specific camera.
