How Many IP Cameras can I Access via the Hikvision System?

I am just setting up a Hikvision system - it has IP port, which I have connected via POE 8 IP cameras, but when I went to add a 9th, it said that I couldn't. There doesn't appear to be any info. stating this. I can run new cables directly to the system, but was hoping to run them or a large number of them over the network.

Does anybody know?

If you only have an 8-channel Hikvision NVR that you are connecting the cameras to then that will only support a maximum of 8 cameras, whether they are directly connected to the NVRs PoE ports, to a separate PoE switch, or a mix.

The only way to expand the system beyond 8 cameras without replacing the NVR with a 16-channel model is to install a MicroSD card in the 9th camera and then add the NVR and the 9th camera to Hikvision's iVMS-4200 software so that you can view/playback all 9 cameras in the same place.
