Ok, new to camera setups
A friend is asking for help
He has an Alhua instruction paper
Im mostly finding dahua on my searches
The paper instructions say to install recorder and update recorder firmware and download and install the software
No instructions given on how to access/update the recorder firmware so will the downloaded software have the firmware update functions like when you log into your router?
Other that that i think i can get him up and running
Thanks for your help

Are you saying he has an NVR and cameras badged as Alhua?
I have never heard of that brand.

I am in the US, just realized this a Uk based forum
But here is a pic of the instruction sheet logo i grabbed when i was in his garage looking things over
I still need him to gather the model numbers etc
I haven’t seen the box but he connected it from cameras to recorder to the router but stopped there
Im so new at this stuff im not sure wether the nvr has memory or relies on the pc hdd for memory
Trying to get him to find me the details of where he bought it, specs etc so i am better prepared
The instructions were a simple colored sheet with two sides
1a go to website and download/install softeware
1b set up passwords etc
2b use auto detect or manual to find installed cameras
Side two details app setup for phone/ipads
Im guessing the downloaded software will automatically show how to upgrade firmware?
Those instructions do not say expect for the words “upgrade recorder firmware “
Before the words “download and update software”
So im confused a bit

**edit** the more i look at the logo im guessing that is a stylized “d” so im looking at dahua stuff
Sorry for the confusion

Yes, that is Dahua.
No worries.
Does he have an NVR?
Or just cameras?
Are they definitely IP cameras?
(they will have RJ45 type network connectors)
Or analogue CCTV cameras?
(they will have push & twist co-ax connectors)

Ok, just got a pic from him from back of nvr
It’s a dahua N41B2P2
Web search says it’s a quad core 2tb hdd nvr runs 8 cameras he has 7
Spec sheet doesn’t indicate it needs a modern computer to run it but it seems the regular software needs a modern 2.4ghz i3 or higher processor/win 7 to run it?
Im thinking his desktop is older but if the nvr takes care of everything im good
Otherwise we are looking for him a new pc
There are three versions of the firmware updater not sure which one to use?
