Initialising HDD on a new NVR: no tick box?

I'm setting up a new NVR and have got as far as initialising a new 4GB HDD but the box to tick to select it is not present on the screen. Clicking 'Init' tells me to select the HDD. I can't!

Is there something I'm missing or do I ignore, move on, and come back to it later?

Which NVR model?
Are you accessing with a PC/browser?
Or direct-connected monitor?

It's a Hikvision DS-7616NI-M2/16P and I have it connected to a monitor using a VGA connection.

Presumably you connected x2 cables when you installed the HDD; power AND SATA?

Yes, two cables. The HDD is visible in the initial setup wizard, it's only the tick box to select it that's missing.

The label is 1, the capacity is shown, the state is uninitialised, property R/W and type Local

Weird! I've gone back to it and double clicked on the entry (as I did several times earlier) and I've been able to initialise it.
