Is it possible to work out whether you are viewing recordings from the MicroSD card or hard drive when viewing them in the Hik connect iOS app?

Hi

Is it possible to work out whether you are viewing playback via the sd card or hard drive through the Hik connect iOS app?

Thanks

Hi @GAM

Are you viewing footage from an NVR added to Hik-Connect or a standalone camera that has been added to Hik-Connect?

Hi Dan

My setup has always been standalone cameras, accessed via the Hik connect app. I’ve always avoided a NVR and instead use a Poe switch and a home built nas with multiple smb shares. It’s worked perfectly well for 10 years on Hikvision cameras.

My issue is it’s not always clear when the SD takes over automatic recordings if the NAS is patched or needs maintenance.

Thanks

Okay,

If you have the cameras added individually to Hik-Connect, the footage you are viewing is from the camera's MicroSD card because Hik-Connect cannot access footage stored on a 3rd-party NAS that isn't added to the Hik-Connect app.

I just use the Hik connect app, but not the Hik connect service itself.

For 10 years I’ve accessed my 3rd party nas recordings via the IVMS iOS app and later the Hik connect app.

In the newer cameras that support micro sd cards, when the sd card is not present I can access my recordings fine. My confusion is when both the sd card is present and I reboot my nas, it’s not always clear when the recording is from the sd card or from the nas.

Hope this makes sense

Basically when my nas fails/is turned off the SD card recording kicks in

Okay,

I think I understand what you are doing, but to be honest, you are doing something far more technical than we've ever been hands-on with before.

As far as we are aware, there is no way to label/mark what recorded footage is from the MicroSD cards and what is from the NAS.

We will edit the title of this thread to something that better explains the question you are asking and hopefully another user here on the forum might have some more experience of this kind of recording setup you have.
