I think it is likely a compatibility issue, as the MacOS has progressed we have seen increasing issues with Hikvision Mac compatibility.
We hadn't actually realised that our office 2015 Mac (running Monterey) was running iVMS-4200 v2.0.0.12, we haven't attempted to update to the latest v2.0.0.17 release (but that was actually released 2-3 years ago) but by the sounds of it might not be compatible with certain recent versions of MacOS.
I think if the v2.0.0.12 release is stable, you are probably best off just sticking to this version.
We've spoken to Hikvision support about improving support for Hikvision on Mac, they gave us a kind of non-answer that suggested they have no urgent plans to improve Hikvision access/support for Mac users.
