Minor problem after a power cut.

I have a small problem and wondered if anyone could help me please ?

I have a HikVision iVMS 4200 CCTV system purchased some years ago but yesterday we had a power cut and a small problem has arisen. I have a desktop pc which is connected to the NVR and that is working fine and we have numerous iPads that are connected and they are also working as they should.

But I also have a standalone monitor which is also hard-wired into the NVR and I am getting an error message on that. I have attached an image of the error. I was asked to confirm the resolution after the power came back on and that is where I may have made a mistake.

I have a mouse that normally controls this monitor and the cursor is no longer visible. I can look at the control options on the screen on my desktop and I can also log in to the NVR and I wondered if anyone could tell me what I should be looking for in able to correct the fault ? Any help and/or advice would be very much appreciated. Thank you.

Use the buttons on the monitor (or remote control if it has one) to go into the monitor menus and set the correct monitor resolution... "correct" is whatever it was before the power cut.

If you can log into the NVR GUI from your PC... there should be settings similar to these that tell you what resolution the monitor should be set to:

Or just guess and try each resolution available in the monitor menus until it works!

You Sir are a star. Thank you so very much. I have a different screen to yours but figured my way around it (I hope ! ) and found this.

I changed the resolution from what you can see above on the left to what you can see on the right .

I now have this on my standalone monitor which is how it used to be (I only have three cameras) except for the icons at the top of the screen and in the left margin. I know I could play with those things and also the mouse but I'm a bit concerned that I might mess things up and wondered if you are able to tell me how to get rid of those options please ?

EDIT-1 I couldn't resist having a play and I have got rid of the icons at the top of the screen but I've still got the two at the top in the left hand margin.
EDIT-2 I have also just noticed that the two images at the top of the screen are larger vertically than the one at the bottom. Is that something to do with the resolution that I have set ?

If you right click with the mouse connected to the NVR, you should see a menu pop up, then select "Full Screen"... that will get rid of the icons and the left margin... right click again and select "Exit Full Screen" to get the icons/menus back...


Do you see how the picture is off the screen at the left side (all sides)? At that 1080P resolution you have set, it looks like the monitor still needs to be adjusted... it's something like overscan or full screen or zoom setting... you still need to go into the monitor settings to correct that, but...

It would be better to put the NVR resolution back to 2K where it was before you changed it and go into the monitor menus and set the monitor resolution to 2K since it is a higher resolution that both the NVR and monitor support and probably won't have the overscan issue... if it does it's just as easy to fix the overscan for the 2K resolution as it is for the 1080P resolution (again, just use the monitor remote or buttons on the monitor itself to go into the menus).

On the other hand, if you are not concerned with the higher resolution... then leave the resolution at 1080P but do play with the overscan settings on the monitor so the full screen is show... the advantage of leaving it at 1080P is that next time the power goes out, you shouldn't have to fix anything because 1080P seems to be what the monitor wants to default to after a power outage.

It's that overscan issue I mentioned above... part of the image is off the screen.

Thank you once again for all you help. I will have to look at that later because of other things going on but I will be back.
EDIT-1 Sorry but where do I find the monitor settings please ?
EDIT-2 Apologies, I have found the monitor buttons (I think) ! I presume these are them because I can move the block of images around.

All sorted now and for the record in case it helps anyone else this is what I had to do.

After logging on to my NVR I took the options as shown above and then experimented with setting the resolution at various levels, as can be seen above with 1920*1080 showing. My stand-alone Dell monitor is a 20 inch and when I altered the resolution to 1280*102460Hz I then discovered that by using the monitor control buttons I could fill the screen with equal sized images from all cameras.
