New firmware Firmware_V4.83.011_241205 K Series NVR

I did so... It seems OK but have not tried yet the combination with v5.7.18 for ColorVU
We are entering the 14th week with the best of the best firmwares for ColorVUs :-) :-)

@alfaclvi has to keep going back to 5.7.15 to get things working properly as there are bugs in later versions affecting VCA search in playback on the NVR. The bug is (to summarise) it don't work lol
Firmware__V5.7.15_240411 ? He is old :D

Ok tested the new firmware by installing once again v5.7.18. This time v5.7.18_240924
Same problem again with "Other" targets. The timeline is empty when searching by Rules(draw lines or polygons).
Went back to v5.7.15 and everything is fine again.
I am just dissapointed because, as I can understand anymore, they are never going to fix this.
@Tomasz
What I mean is that this is not working for Other than Human or Vehicle, which should all be saved as VCA data
https://www.hikvision.com/content/d...o-Solve-No-Result-of-VCA-Playback-Search-.pdf
Events that are set to upload Alarms are OK but they are also lost when searched by Rules

That is poor. I'm quite surprised that Hikvision don't get more reports over these issues. The ability to search for non Human/Vehicle events is a very basic requirement.

I tried to solve the problem with no events for 2 weeks and I didn't find a solution. I didn't know that the problem was Firmware__V5.7.18. I live in Poland, here we don't have such a forum about monitoring. We only have a hikvision group on facebook but it's weak. I always read your forum :)

@JB1970 Yes it is. A drone for example is a kind of threat. A fox, a dog, a cat, a rat won't be recorded as VCA record. About the drone, I don't believe this will be recognized as Vehicle...
But it is obvious this is a firmware malfunction, started after firmware v5.7.17 or for some other models, after firmware v5.7.16.
But I am OK with v5.7.15. Next firmwares are mainly for Inns, Office, Restaurants, Stores etc so not suitable for me and my home. It doesn't help for something more, other than possible security issues(vulnerabilities)

Will firmware v5.7.15 work on ds-2cd2347g2h-lisu/sl? Events also don't work in the hybrid camera. Sorry for my english

Yes it will if it's a G5 platform camera. On the System Settings > Basic Information page (V4) you can check this. The platform is contained in the 'Firmware Version Property'

Tak, jeśli jest to kamera platformy G5. Na stronie System Settings > Basic Information (V4) możesz to sprawdzić. Platforma jest zawarta w 'Firmware Version Property'

BR-G5-0 my firmware now V5.7.18 build 240826. Can I instalation v5.7.15?

I'd never noticed the issue before but have read your detailed explanations @alfaclvi. So just to test I did the following on one of my DS-2CD2387G2H-LIU cameras connected to the DS-7616NI-M2/16P:

  • Existing firmware - 5.7.18_240826
  • Downgrade to 5.7.15_240411
  • Go to Playback > Normal Playback
  • Three dot menu > Dual VCA > Enable Motion Detection
  • Draw a grid and search.....
The photo below shows the results of that VCA search on the timeline first on 5.7.18, then the black space during reboot, followed by the time after downgrade to 5.7.15:

IMG_7405.JPG

No results for the time on 5.7.18 and all motion found after downgrade to 5.7.15. So yes it's abundantly clear that on newer firmware the camera does not pass the VCA data to the NVR.

@JB1970 Yes this is exactly what I try to explain. This is not a three dot on NXI-K, it is the smart search symbol (lamp?) , but it is the same procedure.
It seems as if the camera with v5.7.18 filters what kind of VCA will send to NVR and this is only Human and Vehicles. The very strange thing is that(if Human and Vehicle are unchecked in configuration) the Search tab procedure or the simple Playback Normal or Event, shows those hundreds of events as files or on timeline. But when you perform the Rule Search by drawing grid or polygon on both kind of Playback, Normal and Event, those events are lost. Nothing on the blue timeline.
Thanks once again. I feel I am not alone :-):-)
This is yesterday search by rules Motion on iVMS4200. Between 16:30 and 18:10 is the v5.7.18. The rest is v5.7.15

I was sure there was when you hover around the lower right corner of the image during playback you get a 'more', 'enable Dual VCA' then an option to select motion, line, intrusion.

This is where it gets very confusing. The Smart Search lamp is also available on the M series and works as follows:

Version 5.03.010
- Clicking Smart Search (lamp) switches OFF the Human and Vehicle selections. You cannot use both combined. The search results will only include Human targets so it's not possible to find anything else of interest.

Version 5.04.020
- Clicking Smart Search (lamp) leaves Human and Vehicle selections. You can use both combined. The search results will include Human/Vehicle targets if you've selected those boxes and all targets if you don't.

The above is true even with the G5's on 5.7.18. Now unfortunately (as detailed in my other post), while 5.04.020 on the M model fixes Smart Search, it breaks motion detection markers in playback timeline and Hik-Connect which makes it unusable to me.

I'm beginning to think what we're calling a bug, is actually intentional by Hikvision and what's broken in camera firmware might be fixed in later NVR firmware (how the camera metadata is sent from the camera vs how it is received by the NVR)

I've been looking into Dahua (which I've never used before) but I'm going to try their nearest equivalent (the IPC-HDW3849HP-AS-PV-PRO). There is some similar discussion on other forums saying that newer firmwares won't allow a search for normal motion in the NVR once Human/Vehicle is selected in the camera.

Hi JB1970

With v5.7.15 on my ColorVU G5's
On NXI-K Playback either Normal or Event, there are no three dots. Cannot remember if there was one in the past.
On Normal Playback on bottom right corner there are a box with timeline hours for view(actually zooming the timeline) and a Full screen button.
On Event Playback there are a Set button(wheel) which concerns Play strategy, skip normal videos, playback speed and Event play speed and also again a box with timeline hours for view(actually zooming the timeline) and a Full screen button.
There is no option to get a "more" and by that enable/disable Dual VCA which is already enabled on Camera Configuration.
The Human and Vehicle selections have no effect at all on markers. In any case the result gives all the targets. Just a warning when performing a search with H and V enabled, about "No results bla bla bla...." but there are results. Thats was always the same.
With v5.7.18 none of the above works. No Smart and no Basic for by rules procedure. Yes possibly new firmwares will solve. It's surely "how the camera metadata is sent from the camera vs how it is received by the NVR". But I wonder. Don't they see those issues? What kind of QC is performed on every new firmware release? And why do they ignore End Users? And why should someone after such ignorance, buy an expensive one NVR with twice the cost?
I've been thinking of Dahuas since the begininng, but it's the cost....The barrier is the cost
