I have a Hilook NVR-108MH-C/4P(C). with old firmware lacking the newer UI. The Hilook firmware page says that the newer firmware applies to the more recent NVR-108MH-C/4P{D}. Can I use this firmware on my NVR? If so, should I do this incrementally, ie load each previous firmware version before going to the most recent? Thanks

No it cannot be used on your NVR. The 'C' and 'D' denote that they are different and do use different firmwares. You can only use the firmware for the (C) model.

Thank you JB1970, I rather thought that might be the case. Guess I will have to source a firmware update for this older model elsewhere.

Which actually didn't take long to find after a Google search... but not clear whether my (inherited) model is k74 and k9b2. Going on current firmware version I suspect K74, but I cannot find any reference to this bar the version numbers. Does K9B2 refer to the updated UI?

Here you go...If you look at the note at the bottom of the page your model, the (c) hardware revision is the K9B2 platform. You didn't mention what version yours is on currently but you need to update in stages and include one version each time the middle digits of the firmware change (if the middle digits of the newest available version match your current version you can go direct). Here is the page with previous and current versions:

Apologies for slow reply - we had a severe storm with off-on-off-on power cuts, which bricked my HDD and flooded a poe extender (allegedly waterproof). Luckily PC and NAS are on UPS. Only just back on line again.
Thanks for the info - sorry I thought I had stated the current firmware version, which is old.... V4.30.005 build 200628, but I see that in fact I missed that vital piece of data from my initial post. My concern is that firmware versions for the KB92 platform start at V4.31.102 build210626, where the K74 starts at v3.4.112 then jump straight to V4.30.010 E-UI and up to V4.30.085. I don't know the extent of changes between the K74 and K9B2 platforms, but I strongly suspect that the firmwares are not compatible... However, Hikvision's model numbers are somewhat obscure - if there was a major change between platforms, why not change the designator from C to D? Any further advice would be gratefully received, but I think I am going to have to work through the K74 set, and stop there. Thanks

The information you provided was that you have a '(c)' model. As I've said if you have that version it's a K9B2. It's not a case of working through the K74 versions as you can't - they're not compatible.

If you want to be 100% sure post the last 9 of the serial number and I'll confirm in the Hik Partner Pro app what you have/need.

Hm.. well these are the data according to SADP:

Device Type NVR-104MH-C/4P

Software Version V4.30.005build 200628

Device Serial Number NVR-104MH-C/4P0420190622CCRRD33762934WCVU

DSP Version V5.0, build 200623

So I am confused as it is a C, but the software version seems to fall into the K74 bracket, and predates the earliest K9B2 versions, which are v4.31.xx.

From a serial number search the latest version is 4.30.080_210331 so not much newer than you currently have. Here is the download link which the Hikvision Hik Partner Pro app supplied:

4.30.080_210331

Thanks for this - I guess this means it is a K74 platform. FYI the main reason for upgrading this NVR is for the much improved UI.
Many thanks for your help
