Hello,
I own a Hikvision PTZ camera, model DS-2DF8236IX-AELW.
At night, it regularly loses night vision for about twenty seconds and sends me a motion detection notification.
The day/night sensitivity is set to minimum 1.
Do you have any idea what might be happening?
Thank you

Best regards

hi Dan,
Thank you for your response.
The firmware is the latest version for this camera : V5.6.0 build 190320

Thanks @pucccin0

Has this always been happening since you installed the camera or has it only just started recently?
How long has the camera been installed?
You say it happens regularly, is it always the same time at fixed intervals or are the times it happens completely random?

The camera has been installed for several years.
Recently, I installed an owl box at the back of my garden.
This phenomenon has been happening since i put the owl box. According to the recordings, it occurs once every hour.

Thanks a lot

Excuse my english, i'm french ;)

Thanks @pucccin0

Does the camera automatically patrol multiple positions or is always fixed on the owl box?
If it is fixed on the owl box all night, have you tried temporarily moving the camera to look at something else for one evening to see if this happens whatever the camera is looking at?

I'm just wondering if the camera's IR reflecting off the box could be causing some kind of strain/issue for the camera's sensor that means it is having to readjust itself every hour to stop the sensor from being damaged.

The camera is pointed at the owl box all night long. I haven't set up any patrols.
Tonight, I'm going to have a patrol set up to see if the problem is still there. I'll get back to you tomorrow :)
Thank you again for your attention to my issue

Hi,
since implementing every 20-minutes patrol, the problem has been resolved. Thank you for your assistance. Best regards
