Recording direct to dvd

I need to be able to record direct to a dvd recorder using a static camera with sound. It's for therapy sessions, the picture/sound quality does not need to be great and it will be for indoor use only, camera and recorder just a few feet apart. I just need a simple camera, (like a security camera I think), it needs to be hard wired not wireless. I would appreciate some guidance on what I'm looking for and where I might buy, thanks.

A camcorder will probably be simpler, more hands-off; quicker from capture to playback without file manipulation.
