Reolink RLC-823a installation

I've just purchased the Reolink RLC-823A POE PTZ camera.

Am I right in thinking I don't need the power cable just an ethernet cable?

Also, I've purchased a TP-Link TL-SG1006P POE+ switch, is this correct for this camera?

That all sounds about right.
A PTZ that accepts POE would only need a data cable to it.
Typically PTZs need higher power, so a POE+ switch would be appropriate.

8-Port Gigabit Desktop PoE Switch with 4-Port PoE+

It is perfectly fine.
Gigabit.
Has high power.
You need to ensure that the switch's total power budget is enough for your overall plans.
Which it will be if you are only adding one PTZ.
Fixed cameras take very low power, typically around 6Watts.

Can I plug the POE switch into an extension lead or does it need to go straight into a wall socket?

What type of cable do you recommend to attach the camera to the POE switch? Cat5 or Cat6?

cat5e is more than adequate.
cat6 has a higher spec (for not a lot more cost) and therefore some people opt to install cat6.
cat6A is the latest that we are being encouraged to recommend for backbones between routers, switches, NVRs etc. due to its very high bandwidth and multi-Gbps capability.

To put it in perspective on a per camera network cable, cat5e can handle 100Mbps and the peaks we see from 8MP/4K complex cameras (such as AccuSense) is about 30Mbps.
