Hi

I currently have the following Hikvision gear:

1 X DS-7608NI-E2

1 X DS-2CD2532F-IWS

3MP IP66 Network Mini Dome Camera

2 X DS-2CD2335-I

3MP POE EXIR Turret Outdoor Network Dome Camera

The cameras use POE. They connect to a Cisco WS-C3560G-24PS Switch. I beleive they are all China versions and I cannot upgrade firmware on them. Ive always had random issues connecting to the NVR. I can sometimes get it working in Edge via IE compatibility mode but its really slow and I really dislike the interface. I also cannot connect to the NVR via my mobile when using WIFI

Wanted to know:

- Can I upgrade my NVR to a more recent model? Will existing cameras continue to work? Would newer model interace be better? Faster? Easier to use? Ideally Id like to be able to web enable the NVR so I can view cameras when Im not home via my phone (without the need of using a VPN)

- Can I buy the international version of the NVR but use China verson cameras?

- Can I use a NVR from another company and continue to use existing Hikvision cameras? If so any recommendations?

Thanks

Hi @ant75a

Just looking at the NVR, a newer M-series or AcuSense NVR will definitely be easier to access and have a better user interface than the old E-series you currently have.

The unknown factor would be pairing Chinese version Hikvision cameras with a UK/EU Hikvision NVR, we've had no experience with connecting these cameras to newer NVR models so can't say if there is any improvement in how reliably they will connect.

We could only recommend trying the new NVR and if there isn't significant improvement then you should consider replacing the old cameras with newer UK/EU models.
