"The camera does not support the function?" - Do 1-series Cameras like DS-2CD1383G2-LIU Support Smart Events?

Hi,

I have recently purchased DS-2CD1383G2-LIU which I have connected it to DVR iDS-7204HUHI-K1 4S(B).

Looked fine upto now but I’ve come to configure Smart Event settings and when I select the camera I get an error “The camera does not support the function?”

I do have 2 other cameras that do allow me to select and configure the smart settings.

DS-2CD2347G1-LU & DS-2CE72UF3T-E

Firmware for the DVR is V4.26.011 build 201109 and the camera is V5.8.4 build 240613.

I do believe that they are the latest.

Is it the DVR that isn’t compatible?

The 1-series cameras (1xx3G2) are a basic, entry-level range and as you will see from the specs on the DS-2CD1383G2-LIU product page they only support basic Motion Detection, they do NOT support Smart Events like line crossing and intrusion detection.

Thanks Dan, I am confused by this camera because it’s supposed to support SD card storage but no SD slot? I need to decide whether to use it or just send it back. Thanks

In regards to the SD card slot, if look again at the product page I linked you to above you will see that there are 2 versions of this camera model, the DS-2CD1383G2-LIU and the DS-2CD1383G2-LIUF.

If you look in the specs under 'Interface' you'll see it says "-F: Built-in memory card slot, support microSD/microSDHC/microSDXC card, up to 512 GB" which means that only the -LIUF model supports the MicroSD card slot.

I think you are probably best off returning the camera and replacing it with a DS-2CD2387G2-LU or a DS-2CD2387G2H-LIU (or the 4MP 2347G2 version if you are on a budget).
