Upgrading 7716NI-I4 firmware

hi, first time posting here.

Have had my DS-7716NI-I4 / 16P(B) NVR for 4/5 years and of course because nothing ever went wrong I never upgraded the firmware. Now the NVR won't seem to display the unlock screen (pin code) when I double click the mouse. Screen just blinks once or twice and continues to show the connected cameras playback.

From speaking to sales it seems first step would be to update the firmware. Currently running V4.22.000 build 190821

When I look on here for firmware it just shows two versions (I was expecting many more).

I've heard about needing to upgrade firmware gradually - does that mean just install V4.22.005 and then V4.61.030?

Or is there a better resource with more firmwares available?

Now the NVR won't seem to display the unlock screen (pin code) when I double click the mouse.

If you're on a version 4 firmware, move your mouse pointer to the lower right corner of the screen. An icon will appear to 'exit full screen' which will restore the camera list to left side and the menu bar to the top. You can then click the cog (gear wheel if you're American) to get into Settings.

You need a full list of previous firmwares for your model. The usual advice is to step through at least one version when the middle number (22 in your case) changes. I've not known an NVR/DVR to be bricked by ignoring that advice but who knows...
