Hi all, me again!
I’ve been slowly adding cameras to my home system, and seem to have outgrown the NVR.
Currently it is running x3 4K colourvus, x2 4K darkfighters, 7 line ANPR and 4MP S6 speed dome.
All the 4K cams are doing audio recording, with one of each running 2 way audio/live guard. All the cams are running at least 20fps.
I had the same guy back who’d sorted my previous playback issues out in an attempt to find out why the ANPR is only doing 30% of traffic, on a good day and seemingly worsening. He noted the videos looked very blurry, which he put down to potential focus issues and/or the bandwidth on the NVR being near max. The NVR is an 8 channel 7608 i series, with an inbound around 80mbs. The worsening of performance stacked up with me adding cameras over a series of weeks.
The NVR is at 7 of the 8 channels, and I am wanting future cameras, he advised I go for an IDS-7716NXI-I4/16P/X moving forward. Having looked at the specs this would appear to be a right powerhouse. This would be be my third Hik recorder in under 2 years, having ripped out a POC system in little over a year due to being unhappy with it’s performance. I’m keen for this to be my last recorder for a good few years (it’s been an expensive rabbet hole so far). I want to ability to be able to run all my 4K cams at pretty well max frame rate and the highest quality footage the cams can give. Does anyone have any experience of this NVR, would it be able to manage what I want, including the ANPR?
The tech guy I’m using stands to benefit in no way by me upgrading to such an expensive NVR, other than having a couple of hours config work.
