Hi folks, I recently installed my Hikvision bullet cameras on the exterior of a building on our property. I was not able to fit the correct weatherproof connection over ready-made cables, so instead I used a truckload of insulation tape. Turns out it wasn't sufficient and water got into the connection and the camera stopped working. Is this likely to have caused permanent damage to the camera? or can I expect to be able to fix it by drying it out by putting it in a warm place for a few days, such as a hot water cupboard?
I shall put an RJ45 crimping tool on the "to buy" list so I can get the weatherproof cover onto the Ethernet cable.
