I have never really dealt with HikVision devices via the platform access/Hik-Connect service before, only direct IP.

I was asked by a friend to look at a system with 5 cameras on NVR and all showing in their Hik-Connect app.

I added a missing 6th camera to the NVR and kind-of expected it to just show up in their app. But no luck.

However, the system is binded/registered to say "Person A" who has shared the NVR device in hik services to "Person B". And it's this "Person B's" app. In their app the NVR is shown under "Others' Devices".

Does "Person A" have to do something to allow this added 6th camera to be seen by "Person B" app? Or can "Person B" do something in the app to show the added camera?

Yes. Person A needs to select the new camera in their 'Shared Devices' list. I added some cameras to a site last week and had the same thing (shared user reporting no access). I did it using the browser.

  • Person A logs needs to login to their account at www.hik-connect.com
  • Click on shared devices
  • Click the edit icon to the right of the existing shared user .
  • The page will show the current cameras selected
  • Scroll down and tick the new cameras for live view, playback etc
  • Click 'share' at the bottom of the screen
  • Person B's access is now updated (they may need to 'drag' their screen or log out and login to their app to refresh the available camera list)
It'll also be possible directly from Person A's Hik-Connect app.

For unbinding process, one has to have Authorized Installer level at minimum Hik Partner Pro account.

Then you can file an online case for unbinding procedure.

Cheerio

Thanks, but can you confirm - if I have physical access to NVR and the NVR admin password, can I click on the "Unbind" button - will it unbind NVR from "Person A's" hik account without any authorisation/confirmation from "Person A"?

Then can I just re-add NVR to "Person B's" hik account so it's their device and not a shared "Others' Devices"?

I think I have answered my own about unbind - Although I don't use Hik-Connect I registered an account, added one of my NVRs to account. Then on NVR itself clicked the "Unbind" button. NVR was just removed from the account without any notification or request on the account. So all good.
