I have an alien dvr system which was already installed when I bought this house. I had to call out the original engineer to setup again because our new broadband was installed. He got it working and left but did not leave the admin password. There was no serial number that I could see and no client software. The alien company refused to help me without the serial number.
Now, our broadband changed with a new router so the dvr stopped working. I cannot get into admin as we don’t know the password. The engineer says he doesn’t know password (probably wants a callout).
I have not really been happy with this decrepit system. Can I keep the cameras in situ and get another dvr from an another company and setup afresh?will the cameras still work? I really want a dvr which is easy to setup and control from computer/app.
The cameras are cabled with power.

you can try resetting the DVR to its factory settings. This will erase all current settings (including passwords) and allow you to start fresh.

Actually I don’t want to reset the original box as it has the PZT settings.
In fact I bought a cheap Sansco box; set it up in no time and I can access whole thing on my pc as well. Better than the problem laden Alien Hero box.
Only problem I have now is that I don’t know to setup the PZT on the system. Do I need the old settings or are there generic ones I can use?
