I have been asked by the police to upload (using a link to their server) some camera footage as evidence in a case. Using ta web browser interface to access my M-series Hikvision NVR, I've created a 4 minute long clip. However, when I play the clip back using VLC media player (latest version) the audio is missing. I've played with the VLC audio settings and tried different browsers but no joy. I suspect this is a VLC issue and the audio is present, but just not playing back and so the police will have no problems using their tools, but I'd prefer to diagnose the problem myself.
Using my i-Pad Pro, via the HIK-connect interface, I can get a short clip to play back with audio & video However the video freezes after about 20 seconds when clipping is running (ironically the audio keeps going in the background, even though the clock appears stuck). Same on my iPhone, so this appears to be an iOS device limitation.
The quality of the video and audio is crucial, so I want to be able to upload an uncompressed file. Any suggestions as to how I get the audio to work on the original MP4 clip ?
