Hi teammates, im trying to figure out what i'm setting wrong on my nvr system for remote viewing my cameras.
When i'm remote i can reach my NVR by entering both my hostname as my ip address and see my NVR.
(I can access the NVR although not able to see the images of the cameras yet)
When I open the Hikconnect app it shows "devices offline".
When on the home network I can see the cameras/images without any problem.

What is wrong not able to see the feed when on public?

thank u for response

Thank you.
As far as i can see i don't have the option to enable/dissable substream but it is set to
resolution: 640x480
bitrate type: variable
frame rate: fullmax bit: 768
encoding: H.264
stream type: video

I think you'll first need to provide some further information as it's not clear how you want to access the system remotely. Hik-Connect can be used to access your NVR in two ways:

1 - Using IP/Domain.
- No Hik-Connect account required
- No push notifications will be available for events
- You'll need to forward the server, RTSP, http ports (depending on what remote functionality you need) in the router (8000, 554 and 80 TCP by default)

2 - Using Hik-Connect P2P (recommended)
- Hik-Connect account is needed
- The device (DVR/NVR) must have Hik-Connect enabled in Configuration > Network > Advanced > Platform access first
- The device must then be added to your account
- Push notifications will be available for events
- No port forwarding is required

Thank U JB1970.
I have a DS-7616NI--I2/16P NVR.
Sorry but maybe i did to much or to less and things are screwed up.

I tried several ways.
I have a Hik connect account

Opt 2;
Platform Access: thicked (enabled)
Access type: Hik-Connect
Server Addr: dev.us.hik-connect
Encryption: thicked
Verification code set
Status: Online

note: DDNS is also set in the DDNS page:

I added the device by scanning the QR code on the Platform Access page.

My settings in my Hik Connect app show me:
adding type : IP/Domain, Alias xxx, address: xx.xx.xx.xx ( i set it manually afterwards),
port :8000, Hikconnect username and password and encryption.

I do have port forwarding in my router for the ports indicarted

Sounds like you've gone too far and done a bit of everything!

You already have what's needed for option 2 with Hik-Connect showing online. If you've added the device to your account all you should need to do is login to your Hik-Connect app on your phone from the homepage and the device should appear (you may have to drag on the phone screen to refresh it). If it doesn't show up, you should login to www.hik-connect.com using a browser and check to see that your NVR is listed there. Additionally, on the platform access page; as well as showing the status online it would normally show a binding status of 'linked'. 'Linked' shows that not only is the NVR communicating with the Hik-Connect server, but also that the NVR is added to a user account. Obviously the NVR needs to be added to the Hik-Connect account that you're using to login to the app on your phone.

If you wanted to do it via option 1 which uses the port forwarding, your mistake is that you've used your Hik-Connect username and password instead of username "admin" and the admin password of the NVR. When adding a device using IP/Domain, the Hik-Connect app uses the credentials that you entered in the NVR (as the Hik-Connect service is not in use)

First thing i did is going to www.hik-connect.com.

My device was not added.
Try to add it but result (search) came back: "Operation failed. The device is added by other users"
What is the remedy for this???

Hi JB1970, I didn't succeed following the steps listed above;
1) the device is not listed in my account
2) status says "online", but no sign of "linked" visible on the page. (it has to do with firmware (V3.4.94 build 170829) or model of NVR, DS-7616NI-I2 / 16P) maybe just a question!!

I tried the unbind action via SADP: unbinding the current device is not supported error. or "failed"
via hik conn app device is added by other users etc.

So, to conclude, from bad to worse.

Hope someone can guide me, as I did a lot of reading and trying but nothing positive.

thanks for any help
