HikVision Help!!

That's probably not a good sign, it should progress through the test like this:

When you say "it's been unplugged" - just unplugging the DVR from the mains should not cause an HDD failure.

It is worth trying the classic 'switch it off, wait a minute, then switch it on again'.
If it still fails to see / test your HDD then you probably need to replace the HDD - and/or speak to your supplier/installer if it is still in warranty (normally that's 3 years for HDDs).

All sorted!! Phew!!

I turned it off and back on......and in the start up section there is a HDD setup page and the tick box for the HDD wasn't ticked.

Ok, so now the firmware is updated and HDD is now back up and running..............going back to the motion sensing......is there a way for the notifications only to ping if something large is detected like a car or a person etc? Rather than a moth or a blade of grass moving as it was when it was set up?

Hi @Sarnie

Motion Detection is a bit of a blunt tool with little adjustment you can do to improve the accuracy, we would instead recommend you switch to using a Smart Event like line crossing or Intrusion Detection as these usually have more settings like min & max object size that allow you to reduce the size bracket for what will and won't trigger the event. See pages 59-61 in the DVR User Manual for instructions to set up Smart Events.
